Navratri Outfit Ideas 2026: What to Wear for Garba, Puja and Dussehra

Sharad Navratri 2026 begins on Sunday, 11 October and runs until Maha Navami on Monday, 19 October, with Dussehra on Tuesday, 20 October. That is nine nights of garba and dandiya, plus morning pujas, Ashtami, kanya pujan and family visits. Each needs a slightly different outfit. This guide sorts our pieces by occasion so you can plan the whole festival in one go.

Plan early if you are buying a lehenga

Our lehengas are semi-stitched and free size, and they come with an un-stitched blouse piece. Your tailor will need to adjust the waist and length and stitch the blouse, so order in the first week of October to leave time for delivery and tailoring before the first garba night.

What to wear for garba and dandiya nights

Garba is about movement, so choose a wide flare and a fabric that twirls without weighing you down. A lehenga choli is the classic choice.

If you would rather dance in pants, a flared or palazzo set moves almost as well as a lehenga and is easier to manage in a crowd.

Tip: pin your dupatta securely at the shoulder, and wear flat juttis or mojaris. You will be on your feet for hours.

What to wear for morning puja, Ashtami and kanya pujan

Pujas often mean sitting on the floor, cooking prasad and welcoming guests, so a straight kurta and pant set is easier than a lehenga. Breathable rayon and cotton blends stay comfortable through a long morning.

What to wear for Dussehra and festive get-togethers

For Dussehra and evening visits to family, go one step dressier with richer fabrics and more embroidery.

Dressing for the nine colours

Many cities and housing societies follow a day-wise Navratri colour list. The lists differ by region and publisher, so check the one your group is following. Whatever the order, here is where to find each common colour in our range:

Caring for your outfit between nights

After each night, air your outfit out on a hanger before folding it. Store embroidered and zari pieces folded in a cotton or muslin cloth, and spray perfume on your skin rather than on the embroidery. For washing, follow the care instructions on each product page.

Sizes, delivery and returns

Most of our kurta sets come in sizes S (36) to XXL (44), and some styles go up to 3XL (46), 4XL (48) or 5XL (50). Lehengas are free size. Delivery is free across India on prepaid orders, and Cash on Delivery is available for a flat ₹70. See Shipping and Returns for delivery times and our 3-day return policy.
